When Brooke and Kyle asked me if they could do their engagement photos at home because their dogs had had a litter of puppies, I responded with an enthusiastic yes! Who says no to puppies? They live in a close-knit community in Monkland, ON, and Brooke’s parents are their neighbours. It’s also the location of their wedding this summer, and gave me a chance to visit the grounds. This is attempt two for them to get married. Originally they planned their wedding for last year, but had to reschedule due to the pandemic.
Their backyard summer engagement portraits are proof that all you really need is some trees, grass, and great light for portraits. The rest comes from a variety of poses… and from having fun! Brooke and Kyle are so easy with each other. They joked and laughed through their whole session, even when the puppies got a little out of control.
It was a very humid evening but the sun was shining and we found a great spot in Brooke’s parents’ yard to take most of the images. They opted to do an outfit change halfway through so their portraits have even more variety. And the puppies add an extra level of adorableness to the images. I had a hard time saying goodbye but they already have good homes for each of them.
Brooke and Kyle, I can’t wait to go back to Monkland for your wedding later this summer!
