Aimee and Bailey are farmers in Finch, Ontario, and we scheduled their Ottawa engagement portraits around their busy fall harvest season. The sunset during golden hour was perfect, it was warm but not hot, and there were no bugs. What a fantastic way to spend an evening! They’re getting married next summer on their family farm and I’m sure it will be quite the event.
If Aimee looks a little familiar it’s because I photographed her sister’s wedding a couple years ago. It is such an honour to be trusted with documenting a wedding day, and to do it more than once for one family is humbling. It’s also a lot of fun to see familiar faces on the day and feel a little bit a part of the festivities.
Like many couples, Aimee and Bailey seemed to arrive at their portrait session a little unsure of how things would go. If you’re on the fence about doing an engagement session before you wedding, I recommend doing it if only for that reason – it gets you comfortable with your photographer and, more importantly, it gives you an opportunity to get used to being in front of the camera so that when your wedding day comes around it feels familiar and hopefully even fun!
These two are comfortable around each other in a very obvious way. The live together, work together, and love each other, but they also seem to be best friends. I can’t imagine working with my husband Rob every day (actually I can, and I neither of us would like that), but Aimee and Bailey are building a life together where they thrive doing just that. And this summer their families will celebrate that outside on the land they call home.
