Hiba and I have known each other for three years now, which seems incredible to me! I remember the first day I met her: we had so much in common, from our ages to how long we’ve been married, to our biggest passion — photography! When I went home that night I told Rob that I think I just made a good friend, and it turns out I was right :) Hiba is sweet and caring, and a great photographer herself! She and Peter have known each other for a long time, and together they compliment each other so well. You might remember them from their maternity session from back in the fall, when we walked around downtown Ottawa chasing the sunset.
Their first child was born a few weeks ago, and Hiba wanted a lifestyle newborn shoot for him that showed off the nursery they put so much effort into. It’s beautiful and stylish in its simplicity, with neutral colours, an unfinished wood crib, simple animal prints, and charming details that give it character. The end result is a nursery that is calm and relaxing.
Even though his nursery is soothing, little James was wide awake and didn’t want to miss the action! Newborns are typically at their most sleepy and curly (they like to be swaddled) between 6-10 days young. James was three weeks old when we had this lifestyle portrait session, so I wasn’t too surprised when the little guy didn’t want to sleep! All the same, I think he’s pretty perfect and did great for lifestyle portraits. I can’t wait to see this little guy get bigger. Congratulations again, Hiba and Peter. You did good :)
