When Missy and Chris decided to do their engagement photos on their family farm, I was pretty excited. I love chic downtown sessions, but let’s be honest – rural settings are my favourite. And rural settings with cows? Sign me up! They live on Chris’s family farm in Finch, Ontario. For those of you from Ottawa, that’s in North Stormont. My dad’s extended family is actually from Finch and all over the North Stormont area, so it was neat to head out there. The farm was gorgeous, with plenty of fields, water nearby, and giant trees. And the light in the evening was perfect.
To make things even better, their border collie Maisy joined us during their session, and you can see her adorable fluffy self make an appearance in several of these! A big thank you to Missy’s sister for helping distract, attract, and corral the energetic young dog. I love when family pups can be in the engagement pictures, but unless your dog is a senior and listens perfectly, having someone to help is a must!
These two both come from a line of farming families, which I thought was pretty adorable. They fit together so easily. There is no pretense, no awkwardness. You can just tell by watching them that they are as comfortable together as two people can be. I can’t wait for the wedding next month! Chris and Missy, I hope you enjoy your photos! Thanks for having me, and for being patient when I wanted to know all about the cows!
