Samantha and Josh waited for weeks for some warmer temperatures and Mother Nature delivered! Last weekend we took their winter forest engagement photos in Kemptville, ON. There was plenty of fresh, powdery snow and sunshine for their late afternoon portraits. When I found out about their dog, Murphy, I hoped they would bring him along. He’s a big, adorable, good boy who did so well during his first professional photoshoot! Samantha’s mom came along to help with Murphy so that the newly engaged couple could focus on looking amazing!
We met in Kemptville, which is conveniently located in between their home in Winchester and mine in Ottawa. I’m so happy that the days are getting longer. We had a perfect golden hour and miraculously the trails weren’t too crowded. I usually suggest that couples do their engagement photos in a different season than their wedding so they have some variety. Josh proposed over the holidays and they’ll be getting married in September. I’m already looking forward to the wedding!
Samantha and Josh have never had their portraits taken before, which is hard to believe after seeing these images. They are one photogenic couple! They’ve been together for a few years, and their comfort with each other is obvious. Winter is not my favourite season, but I love the forest, and I’m loving these portraits. Hope you do, too!
