Lisa and Liam are getting married next summer, so late September was a great time for them to have their fall engagement session in Ottawa. Fall is a popular time for portraits, and in Ottawa it’s truly beautiful: the air is getting cooler, the leaves change, and golden hour becomes all that much more magical. They live in the same part of the city as I do, so I knew just the spot to bring them.

It was their first time having their portraits taken together professionally, and they absolutely rocked it! These two were so sweet together, and they did great in front of the camera. They made each other laugh a lot, making my job easy.

We started their session by the water surrounded by vibrant early fall colours. Liam looked very dapper, and I loved Lisa’s cream dress and pop of fall colour with her cardigan, so some twirls were in order. The sun came out for a bit and we headed to an open area to catch the glowy light and more of the warm fall colours.

Halfway through, they changed up their outfits, which is a great way to get more variety in your portraits. Their jeans and sweaters were a perfect casual vibe for walking through the field and snuggling in the tall grass.

I’m excited to see these two again for their wedding next summer. I’m sure it will be a day overflowing with joy and love.
