Elora turned one recently (doesn’t she have the prettiest name?), and her family wanted a portrait session to commemorate her first birthday. So we took to the great outdoors — okay, Barrhaven — to get some photos of this cute little girl and her big blue eyes. There’s nothing cuter than a baby in a basket, so that’s how we started things off, with her big brother easing her into the swing of things. It’s clear that these two have a close bond, and I love capturing that for both of them to have when they’re older.

We did a combination of posed photos with candid in between, though anyone who’s ever been around a one-year-old knows that even posed is closer to candid! I love photographing children: they have so many expressions. Coaxing a smile out of a baby might be one of my favourite things. I think it’s pretty universal! Here’s a few from our session:
