Krissy and Scott had their early fall wedding at Strathmere, and it was a gorgeous day! After a summer of rain the clear skies were very welcome. They got ready and took portraits at the Groniger family farm, which was great because their winter engagement session took place at the Leroy family farm! Both the bride and groom come from farming families, and Scott is a proud farmer. I got to know the Leroy family last summer when I photographed Missy and Chris‘s wedding, and I was so excited to be part of this one. I’m so thankful for couples who me feel like part of the family.
The Groniger farmhouse looks like one big house, but it’s actually two attached homes. The happy couple live on one side, Scott’s parents on the other! It was a really convenient location for getting ready, allowing everyone to be together on opposite ends of the building. Before parting ways for the church, Krissy and Scott shared a moment on the staircase by holding each others’ hands. How either one of them did it without peeking, I have no idea.
The wedding ceremony took place at Scott’s family church, not too far from their home. Their family priest, who has know Scott and his family forever, performed the ceremony and had everyone laughing. One of my favourite parts of Krissy and Scott’s wedding day was watching everyone while they said their vows. Experiencing that kind of emotion from everyone who loves them was heartwarming.
Scott and his family shined up their antique tractor for portraits back at the farm. It even matched everyone perfectly. After taking the wedding party photos, Krissy and Scott headed out to the fields for their portraits, taking advantage of the setting sun.
The reception was held at Strathmere in The Lodge, which was decked out in gorgeous burgundy and white florals and linens. The wood architecture was perfect for an elegant country wedding theme. The antique dresser cake table at Strathmere is my favourite. And their cake! Scott’s talented sister baked it, and it sure didn’t look homemade with all the florals. Krissy and Scott had their first dance outside under market lights and a full moon. When everyone went back inside, Scott’s dad stole the show with his dance moves!
Thank you both for trusting me to document your wedding day and making me feel like family while I was at it. I wish you both all the best!
