One of the best parts of wedding photography for me is meeting new couples and hearing new love stories. I’m a closet romantic. A sap, really. I cry at almost all the weddings I photograph, either during the vows or the speeches… or both. Usually the camera does a good job of hiding that ;) But it’s an amazing thing to spend such a happy day with couples who are so in love, and surrounded by their family and friends celebrating right along with them.
Most of the time the couple getting married is new to me — we meet each other when they contact me, and it’s great to get to know them through their months of planning. But occasionally I have the honour of photographing friends, like Sheilagh and Dan’s wedding last year. This year, I will be capturing Nicole and Dan’s wedding in Ottawa in October. Nicole and I have been friends since high school, and she has been a huge champion of my photography business. Seriously, this girl has cheered me on from the beginning, and I’ll always be grateful!
When she started seeing Dan, it was pretty obvious that she was falling fast, and I have to admit I was hoping he’d be the one! Dan is kind, polite, athletic, and a dedicated teacher. And thank goodness my super intelligent, outgoing, ambitious, loud, and gorgeous friend didn’t intimidate him too much! Nicole is possibly the most fun-loving person I know, and now she has Dan to share the adventure of a lifetime with :)
We started at the Nepean Sailing Club, wandering around the marina. These guys had the perfect blue outfits to go with the boats!
