Amy and Kevin debated a little bit about where to have their engagement session, and ultimately they chose their home out in the country in Winchester, about 45 minutes from Ottawa. Really, I don’t think any other location stood a chance! These two have got to be the most animal-loving couple I’ve photographed. You think you have pets? They have pets! Their two dogs, Riot and Bliss, got in a few photos with them at the beginning of our portrait session. Their two cats, Mikey and Eddie, though very friendly, decided they were a little camera shy that night. But hopefully I’ll get a second chance at their wedding, because these two are getting married in their backyard! They’re even growing as much of the meal as they can in their garden, and growing the wedding flowers. Talk about DIY!
I arrived in the evening about an hour before sunset, and they showed me around their property, including the chicken/goose pen. And that is where I got to meet Winnie, their little chick! She pretty much stole the show, as you’ll see. Best engagement ring model ever :)
Amy and Kevin are just so comfortable with each other, and that ease with one another extends to all around them, making everyone — animal and photographer alike — feel welcome. They make each other laugh almost non-stop, and you can tell the place they most want to be is at home, enjoying each others company.
Kevin and Amy, thank you for welcoming me to your mini farm. I’m looking forward to seeing the transformation for your wedding day, and tasting more from your garden!
