It was already snowing when I arrived at the Griffin house. February 2015 is officially in the books as the coldest on record in Ottawa, but we also got a lot of snow — perfect for a romantic winter wedding. Kim had imagined the day full of white and sparkle, and she looked absolutely gorgeous as a winter bride, even before she put on her dress. From the moment I walked in the door where the girls were getting ready, she radiated with excitement, and smiled all the time. Her day had been planned to a tee, but what she was most excited about was marrying Jeff. And when you look at their faces in these photos, you can tell he felt the same way.
A country boy at heart, Jeff wore his suit surprisingly well. He looked at Kim all day like he couldn’t believe he actually got to keep her for the rest of his life. From their first look outside when all he could do was smile, to their first dance (which he recorded singing to her himself), I loved witnessing this special day.
Their ceremony and reception took place at the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, while Kim and Jeff opted to do a first look at The Marshes Golf Club. Getting married in the winter means not a lot of daylight for portraits, and I’m so happy that they decided to have a romantic first look with portraits afterwords. The snow was heavenly to shoot in, and kudos to these two for braving the -25 temperatures. Back at the hotel, their guests toasted and made merry, then tore up the dance floor well into the night.
Kim and Jeff, thank you for being an amazingly fun couple to work with! It was an honour to share in such a special occasion. Your families were wonderful (I still owe your dad a drink, Kim!), and I hope your wedding was everything you’d hoped it would be. Enjoy reliving it in the photos!
