Hayley warned me that this year there might be a lot of candids during their fall family photos. I know every parents wants at least one image where all kids are looking at the camera and smiling, and we try hard to get those images! But the in-between giggles and dancing, the crazy laughter and the face scrunching are just as magical to me. I’ve been photographing this family for years now (check out their first portrait session!) and it’s such an honour to document these kids as they grow up.

And they’re great kids. I’m no expert, but I do know that if Rob and I had children we’d want them hanging out with the Rivetts. They’re polite, patient, and full of life. Tom and Hayley are a calming influence. They get down to the kids’ level to talk to them and you can they’re very in tune with all three littles. Oh, I’m sure it’s not sunshine 24/7. But from what I can see, they’re awesome parents.

For their family fall photos in Nepean, we found a spot in the NCC Greenbelt. You don’t need a big space as long as there’s good light. This was the best year we’ve had weather-wise. Although we’ve always done their photos in October, one year it snowed on us! Although the fall leaves are gorgeous at their peak, it’s always better to have the kids warm and comfortable!
