Kristyn and Max had their wedding at Strathmere last weekend and what a celebration! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a couple laugh so hard all day long. Their joy was contagious and shared by all of their friends and family who came. I first met the happy couple during their engagement session almost two years ago, and it was great to see them again!
Kristyn and her bridesmaids started their day off early getting their hair done and setting up the venue. I joined them at the Spa at Strathmere, who provided makeup services. It’s such a beautiful space with tons of natural light and a very calming atmosphere. Kristyn and Max got adjoining rooms on site in “the corner” rooms, which are right next to each other. Getting ready in the same location allows one photographer to capture every part of your day! Plus, it’s lots of fun, and convenient for running errands or grabbing items that were forgotten or in someone else’s luggage!
They kept their decor simple and elegant in a palette of white and green. The bridesmaids wore long dresses and the groom and groomsmen wore dark jeans, which must have been great! The ceremony and reception took place at The Lodge. There was a great big space for family photos right out front – very convenient for cocktail hour. We took the wedding party portraits in a nearby garden, then ventured a little farther afield for Max and Kristyn’s portraits. We also snuck out during their reception for some golden hour portraits.
This wedding was very French Canadian, with both sides of the family speaking French. Most of the speeches and ceremony were bilingual, and I felt right at home. They also incorporated the tradition of an older unmarried sibling dancing in their socks at the wedding. Kristyn’s brother really leaned into that with crazy socks and some crazier moves, kicking off a great dance party.
Max and Kristyn, thank you for trusting me to document your day! I hope you love your images for years to come, and keep on making each other laugh the way you do.
