I finally got to meet the littlest Martin! And was he ever in fine form! This little guy is so happy and grinned non-stop during their fall family portraits in Nepean last week. Amy and Kevin married two summers ago on August 20th. I remember the date easily because it’s our wedding anniversary too! They had a rustic and sunflower-filled backyard wedding at their home, and I remember their families talking about future children during speeches. Their families loved little Colt before he ever existed!

They got married in the summer but their maternity portraits took place in the heart of winter. It was so wintery, in fact, that we had to delay their session several times to do -30 temperatures. Colt arrived just five days after their snowy portrait session!

We walked around one of my favourite spots in Nepean that has great foliage and some unmanicured areas. The sun was out and it wasn’t too cold – a double win for October portraits! Amy and Kevin split their parental leave 50/50, and right now Kevin is at home with Colt. The bond they’ve developed is beautiful to watch. I’m so grateful to live in a time when we have the option to share parental leave. We still have strides to make when it comes to gender equality and social norms, but we’re on the right track!
