It was a winding drive up the hills for the Jarvises’ Mackenzie King Estate family portraits. Brianna inquired about having pictures taken at the Estate in Gatineau Park for her parents’ recent 30th wedding anniversary. It’s where they got engaged, and spent a lot of time with their two daughters over the years. Brianna’s fiancé joined them, and her sister drove up from Toronto to be part of it. Their session happened in September while it was still fairly warm out, and they took advantage with summery outfits in blue and white that complimented each other perfectly. The day was beautifully sunny and there was no fight for parking! Great combination!
Surprisingly, I’d never been to Gatineau Park with Rob! So he came along with Meadow and they explored while I photographed. The Jarvises and I wandered around the estate, including some of the ruins. We started near a tree where Brianna and her sister played as kids. I love locations that have added emotional impact, whether it’s for families or engagement pictures.
I don’t often get to photograph grown families. It’s understandable that people mainly focus on children, but I take pictures with my parents as often as possible. When I photograph weddings, I make a point to take portraits of the bride and groom’s parents on their own. One of my favourite images of our wedding is a picture of my mom and dad, so I love that the Jarvises decided to do this! Enjoy the images!
