Two weeks ago the Turpin family and I spent an hour photographing their son’s first birthday pictures at the Ottawa Arboretum. They received this session as a gift from coworkers, and decided to use their son’s first birthday to redeem their gift certificate. I honestly think giving a family a portrait session is such a thoughtful gift. Sometimes it’s the encouragement people need to capture those memories!

We had perfect weather to wander around. Maggie and Jason had their wedding photos taken at the Dominium Arboretum, and they hadn’t been back since! It’s not only a beautiful location in the heart of Ottawa, but sentimental for this family, too. Their son Nicholas had just turned one, and he is so precious! Giant blue eyes, and obsessed with dogs. He wasn’t yet walking, which is a great time to take portraits of kids… they can’t run away yet!

Jason and Maggie, it was so nice meeting you and little Nicky! I hope you enjoy and cherish these images of your baby, and I’m so glad we got so many great ones of the three of you together!
