Hiba and Peter | Expecting A Chic Downtown Ottawa Maternity Session

Hiba and Peter are expecting their first baby in November, and they wanted to have some photographs to remember this point in their lives, but didn’t want them to be your “typical” maternity photos. They decided that a chic portrait session in downtown Ottawa — that just happened to include a baby bump — was the way to go. We met on a weeknight and timed our photos with the sunset, which didn’t disappoint. Together, the two of them laughed and hugged through the whole session, but man can these two pull out the sultry model expressions when asked!

Tara and Jason | Expecting A Pinhey's Point, Ottawa Maternity Session

A couple weeks ago I headed out to Pinhey’s Point for a maternity photo session. Tara and Jason are expecting their first child — a boy! — any day now, and they are pretty excited. These two live out in the country, which is perfect for their laid back natures and easy laughter. I have no doubt their little guy will be giggling in no time! The evening was perfect. Warm but not humid, with a gorgeous sunset. We timed the shoot perfectly… just wait until you see those last few photos!

Charlotte and Alex | Expecting A maternity session at Ottawa's Dominion Arboretum

Charlotte and Alex met me at the Dominion Arboretum near Dow’s lake on what was probably the first real day of Spring in Ottawa. No flowers yet, and no leaves on the trees, but you could just feel it! These two spent a lot of Charlotte’s pregnancy in different cities because Alex had a one-year work term in Ottawa. I can’t even image how difficult doing long distance is, let alone while expecting your first child!

Megan’s Maternity

Over twenty years ago, Megan and I met at school. She was shy, which I would never believe now, but at the time it was true. We were friends immediately the way it happens when you’re young. We played soccer together and shared skipping ropes. In the summers we went to camp together and traipsed through the woods, flung water balloons at the enemy, made dresses out of seaweed and slathered ourselves in mud. She kicked my butt every year in shot put.

Jovana Vermette

My friends Jovana and Kyle are expecting a baby boy around Canada Day. One evening while over for homemade tacos (Kyle made his own hot sauce… talk about dedication!), Jovana let me snap a few pictures of her. She is a natural in front of the camera, though pets Freya and Dexter were a little shy.
